Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 28, 2026 · Signal Override (signaloverride.ai)
Signal Override is an independent media project operated by Tony Ghiselli. We respect your privacy and try to keep this policy honest and short. This document describes what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.
1. What we collect
Automatically collected
- Listening data: anonymous session identifiers, which shows you tune into, when you start and stop listening, and roughly how long you listen.
- Approximate location: city, region, and country derived from your IP address. We do not store your full IP address with your listening history.
- Device info: browser user agent string (for compatibility and abuse prevention).
- Page visits: which pages you visit on signaloverride.ai (path only, anonymous visitor ID).
You provide directly
- Account info: if you create a Frequency account — your username, email, password (hashed), display name, optional avatar and bio.
- Posts and replies: any content you post in The Frequency community is stored and visible to other members.
- Messages to Lola: if you chat with Lola (our AI assistant), your messages are stored to provide her with conversational memory. You can request deletion at any time.
- Tip information: if you send a tip via Buy Me A Coffee, that platform shares your name, tip amount, and any message you wrote with us.
- Newsletter signups: if you sign up for The Frequency newsletter, we store your email.
2. How we use it
- Operate the radio station, the website, and The Frequency community.
- Understand which shows people listen to and how long, so we can improve programming.
- Read your tip and dedication on air via our AI DJ system (only if you submit one).
- Send you the newsletter (only if you sign up).
- Detect and prevent abuse (excessive requests, spam, etc).
We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party advertising. There are no tracking pixels for Meta, Google Ads, or similar.
3. Third-party services we use
We use the following services to operate Signal Override. Each has its own privacy policy:
| Service | What it does |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the website, audio files, and database (Workers, R2, D1) |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Powers Lola, our AI assistant, and the AI DJ system |
| Google (Gemini) | Alternate AI provider for Lola |
| Venice AI | Alternate AI provider for Lola |
| ElevenLabs | Generates AI voice audio (Tony and Lola voices) |
| Buy Me A Coffee | Processes tips and dedications |
| Spotify for Creators | Distributes podcast episodes |
| Live365 | Provides licensed background music between shows |
If you interact with any of these (for example, by sending a tip via Buy Me A Coffee), some of your data is necessarily shared with that provider for them to perform the service. We pass only what is needed.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use minimal cookies and local storage:
- Session cookies: to keep you logged in if you have a Frequency account.
- Local storage: to remember your volume preference, which AI provider Lola uses, and similar UI settings.
- Anonymous session ID: a randomly generated identifier to count unique listeners without identifying you personally. This is not linked to your real-world identity.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
5. Data retention
- Listening session data is kept for 12 months for analytics, then aggregated and the originals deleted.
- Lola conversation history is kept for as long as you have an account, or until you request deletion.
- Tip records (name, amount, message) are kept as part of our financial records (typically 7 years for tax purposes).
- Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR (Europe), CCPA/CPRA (California), or similar laws. These typically include:
- The right to know what we have on you.
- The right to request deletion of your data.
- The right to correct inaccurate data.
- The right to object to certain processing.
- The right to data portability (a copy of your data in a usable format).
- The right to withdraw consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We respond within 30 days.
7. Children
Signal Override is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International transfers
Our servers are operated by Cloudflare, which has data centers worldwide. Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries. We rely on standard contractual clauses and Cloudflare's certifications to protect data during transfer.
9. Security
We use HTTPS for all traffic, store passwords as cryptographic hashes (never plaintext), and limit who has access to the database. No system is perfectly secure — we do our best.
10. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be announced via the website or, for account holders, via email.
